Training on Security in the Field for Human Rights Defenders held in Biratnagar

On November 15 to 16, 2017, COCAP | Nepalmonitor.org organized two-days Training on “Security in the field for Human Rights Defender’s” in Biratnagar. 40 Human Right’s Defenders from different human rights organizations hailing from 12 districts of Province no 1 attended. The workshop discussed protection and security of HRDs in the field. Participants learned how to do a risk assessment, how to keep their internet communication secure and what existing National, Regional and International mechanisms for protecting the rights of Human Right’s Defenders are. The defenders were trained to keep an eye on their own security, undertake protection activities for others defenders, victims, social sectors, etc. and to better undertake the strategies for coping with the increasing security challenges of Human Right Defender’s work in the Field.
