COCAP is relentlessly working to establish a strong network of organizations working for peace and human rights in Nepal. As of March 2012, COCAP has 43 registered member organizations from various districts of Nepal, extending from east to west and north to south of the country. Many more organizations have applied for the membership, and are expected to be granted membership after the decision of the general assembly. Member organizations are involved in different issues which includes sustaniable peace , human rights and many other facets of development sector.It is the overarching commitment to contribute to the peace building process that brings them together at COCAP.
Members, for instance, include an organization set up by lawyers that is engaged in advocating the rights to freedom from torture, extra-judicial executions and disappearance. Another organization, set up by Dalit journalists mobilizes the media to fight caste-based discrimination and social exclusion. One ethnic organization intends to utilize COCAP as a platform for advocating rights of indigenous people. Other members expect to jointly advocate for the security of human rights defenders, understandably because they have been working in the very risky conflict affected districts including, for instance, Jajarkot, Bardia, Salyan and Udayapur. COCAP views all such issues and concerns as interlinked and relevant for peace building.
