COCAP’s 9th AGM held at Hetauda

COCAP’s 9th Annual General Meeting was organized in Hetauda, Makwanpur district on September 14 and 15, 2011.  Board members, representatives of member organizations, volunteers and staffs from regional and national secretariats had attended the AGM. Hence there was the participation of more than 80 participants in the AGM.

The inaugural session of the AGM began with participatory candle lightening program. National conference on federalism and local governance was started after mourning program of late Subash Darnal (ex-chairman of COCAP). Praksah Pariyar (Eastern Regional Program Officer), Krishna Karki (Mid-Western Regional Program Officer) and Anil Pandey (Program Assistant/ National Secretariat) were felicitated for their relentless contribution at COCAP for more than five years. Similarly, Jung Bahadur Singh, Chairperson of Setu Community Development and Human Rights Forum, Saptari was felicitated for his advocacy on ensuring conjugal visits for jailbirds to guarantee their reproductive rights.

After the completion of the conference, AGM proceeding methods (sava sanchal bidhi) were set. On the first day, organizational activities report was shared among all the AGM participants by Usha Baruwal, General Secretary. Likewise, financial report was also shared by Om Prakash Lamichhane, treasurer of COCAP. The second day proceeded with the agenda of social audit. There was an intensive discussion regarding the regional secretariats and volunteerism in COCAP. Agenda on statutory amendment was also discussed. Future strategies and action plan were also conferred.

Overall, the 9th AGM reviewed existing plans, policies and accomplished activities throughout the year; and paved way for future directions. The AGM was successfully accomplished with the support of all the board members, staffs and volunteers.
